Title: Book review: The NHS England Clinical Guide to Dental Anxiety Management

Author: J Hare

Abstract:

The NHS England Clinical Guide to Dental Anxiety Management (NHS England 2023; updated 2024) represents a major policy development in the delivery of anxiety management across community and primary dental care. It replaces the earlier Service Standards for Conscious Sedation in a Primary Care Setting (Department of Health 2015), signalling a fundamental shift in philosophy, from sedation as a discrete intervention, towards a holistic, tiered model of anxiety management; encompassing behavioural, psychological and pharmacological approaches.
